RTF Property

In 2010, the Rubicon Trail Foundation purchased nearly 300 acres of previously private property.  The reason was twofold: one secure legal standing on the trail and no longer stopping users from exploring the property.  In 2016, RTF and RTP reached an agreement for a boundary line adjustment, and this was completed in 2017.

In 2019, we opened the Granite View Loop road, which is a 2.2-mile road created by Desmond Caravello and Scott Johnston, around the majority of the property. The Granite View Loop road is embedded into the OnX Off-Road app, but we highly recommend clicking the RTF Folder in your OnX app, as there are more locations and names.  There is a 1.1-mile road down to the start of the loop; it's challenging but similar to the Rubicon Trail.  The Granite View Loop can be run CLOCKWISE or COUNTERCLOCKWISE; the consensus of users agrees that COUNTERCLOCKWISE is the hardest direction. There are several sections that are difficult. We recommend a minimum of 37" tires and fully locked to complete the loop without winching.
