RTF Cantina for the ‘Con a Success
The 4th Annual Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF)
Cantina for the ‘Con was held over the Labor Day
weekend and was a great success on many levels. We
had a new record of over $20,000.00 in raffle prizes
and raised $20,083.00 for RTF! We can’t thank our
vendors and users enough for their generous support.
This year’s event saw the cooperation of several
clubs working together to support the Rubicon.
Here’s a list of clubs and the duties they shared:
- California Creepers Club: Parking & Traffic
Control
- Pirates of the Rubicon Club: Saturday &
Sunday Cook Crew, Food Prep & Serving
- Rock-N-Roll 4x4 Club: Vendor solicitation
and Ticket Sale Promotion
- Rock Zombies Club: Sunday Food Prep Crew,
Raffle Donations
- Rubicon Rockheads Club: Audio/Communication
system, Margarita/Slushy, Knob Polishing Booth,
and EveryTrailisSacred.com swag.
- TDO: Event Planning and Organization, Food
Prep, Cook Crew and Serving
Throughout the event, the Rubicon Trail
Foundation continued to make contact and educate
trail users, providing maps, answering questions,
and encouraging trail etiquette. All weekend long,
we handed out Wag Bags and Oil Spill Kits to trail
users, as made available by a grant provided by El
Dorado County.
The Vendors Showcase also grew this year. These
vendors not only donated product to the Raffle but
also set up booths to show off their latest and
greatest OHV products. When you’re trying to
determine where to spend your hard earned cash,
please give these folks extra consideration:
| 4 Wheel Parts- Modesto |
Auto Tats- Shirts and Stickers |
| Davez Off-Road Products |
El Dorado National Forest |
| Friends of El Dorado |
Jeepers Jamboree |
| Trail Gear |
Rubicon Rock Heads |
For the fourth year in a row Robb’s Valley Resort
supplied ice and support and for the second year,
Adam from Uncle Toms Cabin was our steadfast
announcer. These two local businesses support the
Rubicon Trail so be sure to stop in and thank them
the next time you visit Rubicon.
On behalf of the Rubicon Trail Foundation, NorCal
Clubs and Vendors, THANK YOU for the generous
support! It’s because of you, the trail users and
supporters, that this year’s Cantina for the ‘Con
was such a success!
The last Taco hadn’t been sold and we’re already
making plans for the 5th Annual to be held over
Labor Day weekend 2009 so, if you have any
suggestions on how we can make it better or if you
and your club want to get involved, please contact
Mark Langford at
mwlangford@comcast.net.
